You can’t drive without helmet in Avinashi Rd

Uyir- Trust and Coimbatore City Police have joint together in controlling trauma accidents/traffic collisions and violations in the city. To achieve that end, they have installed smart surveillance system developed by Analog and Digital Labs.

The system comes with smart- cameras that generate automatic photo challan feature in the areas that are under this smart-surveillance.  So if anyone who causes any traffic violation like not stopping at the red signal, halting the vehicle after the stop-line and not wearing helmet, would be precisely pictured and their number plates would be identified.

The system will generate the picture which will be later sent to the city police department who will send a challan along with the photograph to the vehicle owner’s address. The challan includes the picture and states approximately  “The person who drove the vehicle that is registered under your name has driven the vehicle on the mentioned date at the mentioned place and has caused the mentioned traffic violation. As per Motor Vehicle  Act, you are hereby charged a fine for the violation caused. Pay the mentioned sum to the traffic official who brings this challan and get the receipt”

The details in the challan include the fine amount, the date the offence was conducted, the number of offences made (if there are many), and the exact GPS location.

The areas covered in the first phase of this initiative include JM bakery traffic signal (near CSI Immanuel church, DSP office road), LIC traffic signal, Anna Statue traffic signal, GKNM Hospital traffic signal and Lakshmi Mills traffic signal.

As of now, 30 cameras have been installed in the five traffic signals. In three months, the remaining major areas will be brought under this system.
