We would have celebrated Steve Irwin’s 57th B-Day

Few men are really a part of the 90s kids’ lives. Some are irreplaceable, like Rowan Atkinson a.k.a. Mr.Bean, Mukesh Khanna a.k.a Shakthiman and the hero of the day- Steve Irwin a.k.a The Crocodile Hunter.

This man is unforgettable and has been one of the most watched Adventure personalities in Animal Planet and television. Along with his wife Terri Raines, Irwin was so much into preservation and promotion of wildlife, especially crocodiles.  Irwin and Terri, before becoming married were in love and Terri loved him for his incredible love for animals. She once called him an ‘Environmental Tarzan’.

Steve inspired countless kids to appreciate animals and wildlife. Steve’s unfortunate death came in September 4, 2006, while commencing for filming a documentary, Steve went snorkeling and came across a Stingray. He thought of filming it but the species got agitated and thought Steve was trying to attack it. In its self-defense, the creature attacked Steve, piercing his chest and wounding him fatally.

Steve died while en route to the hospital. He has received several honors while he was alive and received many posthumously. Notable are the naming of two species( a species of turtle and snail) after him, his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and for honoring his motherland Australia with his accomplishments, he was given the Centenary Medal by the Australian Government.

We who were kids when we saw Irwin have become men and women but the very remembrance of Irwin would take us relive our childhood in this very instant.
