CPC kickstarts Productivity Week Celebrations

The Coimbatore Productivity Council commenced its annual Productivity Week Celebration, recently in the Conference Hall of the Council’s office.

The theme under which the celebrate the Productivity Week is ‘Circular Economy – A Force Multiplier for Productivity and Sustainability’.

The council has aptly planned a week long schedule that will be productive for the members of the industry, students from schools & colleges and for employees.

The dignitaries on the dais formally inaugurated the Productivity Week Celebrations by lighting the Kuthuvilakku.

A.M. Natarajan, President, CPC welcomed the gathering and said the theme of the Productivity Week this year is so powerful. Circle represents minimum time, resources and man power whilst giving maximum production. He said any activity in life needs optimization and this function will certainly do that to the gathering from all walks of life.

P.K.Natarajan, Past President, CPC explained the Productivity Week Celebrations to the gathering. He highlighted that Coimbatore Productivity Council is the only Productivity Council that has conducted 31 years of consecutive Productivity Week Celebrations. He also underlined the objectives of CPC and the Productivity Week Council.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural function was G.M.Ramachandran, Director- Manufacturing , Propel Industries Pvt.Ltd. He briefed what is economy and mentioned that it is making money and judicious usage.

He highlighted the real meaning of circular economy in a clear manner.

He said most of the countries in the world follow linear economy which operates on the basis of obtaining virgin/raw materials and resources, turning them into products, selling of it, using it and then after years it gets disposed. He cautioned that the system of economy that springs from such a system of production will turn obsolete in the future which will see a 30% surge in global population.

He said a product should be reusable and the technology to do that should be available everywhere. He wanted the idea to make a good, sell it, use it and dispose it must fade and the idea to ‘take, make and remake’ should emerge.

He thanked the Coimbatore Productivity Council for giving him the opportunity.

Following the inaugural, a one-day free Training Programme was conducted for the participants.  K.A.Balamathan, Consultant, spoke on the theme of the Productivity Week Celebrations. He conveyed to the participants that we as humans have a sincere role to play while procuring resources to satisfy our needs and we should learn to differentiate our needs and wants.

He postulated that if a society is greedy, it will only wreak havoc to nature whilst if we remain selfless, we will certainly be able to take much and give much to the society. The Economy of a society that rises out of such a practice will certainly prosper and its posterity will surely thrive.

The end of the first day of the productivity week ended with a fruitful exchange of ideas from participants and an interaction drew the curtain to close.
