Technological Capability of a Country is Very Important

PSG Tech recently conducted a seminar on Research for National Development-Roles & Responsibilities. The resource person on the occasion was Padma Shri Anil Kakodkar, Former Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Center. Currently, he is the Chairman, Board of Directors of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited, Pune. Dignataries present on the occasion were P.Radhakrishnan, Director, PSG Institute of Advanced Studies, R.Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG Tech and V.Prabhu Raja, Assistant Professor, PSG Tech.

Addressing the students and faculty members, Padma Shri Anil Kakodkar complimented the students and the institution for the wonderful record of high quality education and research. Both of these are inseparable if one talks about good academics and expressed his sincere congratulations towards the college for having sustained it over a long period.

Padma Shri Anil Kakodkar said, “It is a good place to talk about the challenges faced in context of the larger eco-system in our country to make sure that India is taken to a stronger position than it is at present and I firmly believe that technology is the key for that purpose. Hence translation of research to technology is actually the main motivation that each one of us must have in terms of liberating research for national development. Many of the things which will be highlighted during the course of my presentation are already in existence of what is being done at PSG Tech”.

Nations become big, important and powerful for different reasons but even among them those which really reach the top position on a competitive basis, one can find that some countries become powerful because they have enough of resources but then there are several countries like in Africa which are on the back foot. It all boils down to technological capability of a country. Countries which are strong in technology have managed to reach the top most level. Technology is the ultimate factor which determines how competitive a country is and what stage they are in.

The session which went for more than a hour was interesting and kept everyone in rapt attention throughout. The seminar ended with the National Anthem.
