Chinnanchiru Kuruvi : A year-long endeavor of 40 children ends on a melodious note

The finale of ‘Chinnanchiru Kuruvi’- a Musical workshop for children, which was jointly organized by Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women and Sri Krishna Sweets, was held in the college premises, recently.

Out of the 300 registered candidates, 40 students were chosen and a year’s training in singing was given to them. On the finale, the students sang famous songs like ‘Sambo Mahadeva’ in unison with their teacher, Hari Priya while Sri Ranjini (teacher) played Violin and Sri Hari (Student) played Mridangam.

V.Janaka Maya Devi, Professor and HOD, Department of Music, Avinashilingam Institute  said “After various tests to find the best, these 40 students have been selected.  These 40 students comprise of kids from 1st to 9th grade.  We have not collected any fee from these students for training. We have been graciously supported by Sri Krishna Sweets”

M.Krishnan, MD, Sri Krishna Sweets said that “The Almighty must make his way down to Earth because of the performance of these children which has been so immaculate and innocent”

M.Balasubramaniam, Director, South Zone, Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture, India, in his special address said “Just like how training is given to interested children, Avinashilingam Institute should try to train children with disabilities. If such an initiative is done, the Ministry will provide assistance for it”

At the end of the event, a book titled “Chinnanchru Kuruvi” was released by S.Kowsalya, Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women and it was received by M.Balasubramaniam, who later distributed the certificate of appreciation to the students.
