Ravi Sam, Chairman, SIMA and Rajkumar, Chairman, CITI, thanked the Finance Minister for taking various measures like removing anti-dumping duties on various MMF Products, enhancing global competitiveness by announcing RoDTEP scheme, extending RoSTCL, IES and many other initiatives. They hailed her for removing the 11% import duty levied on cotton. Several Textile Associations felicitated and some put forth their requests.

Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister said that she finds interacting with the stakeholders a very productive one as it helps her while forming policies.

She said she has done this everytime while visiting Tamil Nadu since 2014, and these interactions have been useful in addressing issues.

She said while Coimbatore and Surat are cotton industry majors, there are other textile focused districts in various parts of the Country. She wanted the Textile Industry to discuss among themselves first and convey their issues and also suggest solutions in unison. She advised giving suggestions that do not affect others in the textile value chain.

“See to that a solution suggested by one member in the value chain doesn’t affect others”, she said.
