– Minister Senthil Balaji at KG Hospital’s PG Degree program launch

KG Hospital & Postgraduate Medical Institute and Research Center, Coimbatore announced the introduction of a new PG program in Emergency Medicine on Sunday.

It was launched by V. Senthil Balaji, Minister for Electricity, Govt of Tamil Nadu in the presence of G. S. Sameeran, District Collector, Coimbatore and Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam, Chairman of KG Hospital.

The Emergency Medicine, “Master in Emergency Medicine” (MEM) course is a three years course and has a selection process. The hospital conveyed that it has selected the first set of students today.

Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam conveyed to the minister and Collector about the importance of emergency medical services, the works done at KG Hospital, and how it runs its daily affairs in a transparent way.

“KG is people’s hospital. Even when patients come without any cash in hand, we never deny them our emergency services. We stabilize their conditions and then convey them about the further procedures to be done. If patients are financially poor, we accept what they can provide for the services provided at emergency,” Dr. G.B said.

He conveyed to the Minister that this hospital will be of support to the State Government by organising free medical camps in Coimbatore. “We shall conduct 100 such camps in Government Schools and anywhere the Corporation and District Collector tells us,” Dr. G.B assured.

The KG Hospital Chairman applauded the DMK-led Tamil Nadu Government for its active contribution in containing the second wave of covid-19. He also felicitated Minister Senthil Balaji who was appointed as the Minister-in-Charge for Coimbatore by the CM. He wished him to do his best for the development of Coimbatore, and improve the smart-city projects in the city.

Minister Senthil Balaji said that Hospitals will appear like theys are temples when a person looks at it after a successful procedure.

In that way, he appreciated KG Hospital for playing a significant role in saving lakhs of patients brought in critical situations. He conveyed that it was this hospital and Dr. GB that treated him when he was suffering from Ulcer.

He thanked Dr.GB for volunteering to conduct free medical camps in the city, and assured him that the CM continously works for all those who voted him and didn’t vote for him.

He appreciated the voluntary donations made by Coimbatore’s Industrialists and philanthropists, and recognised the contribution of Rs. 40 crore towards the CM’s public relief fund this year. He expressed that everyone’s participation should be there in the development of Coimbatore, and he (Minister Balaji) will surely take the requests of the people of Coimbatore to the CM’s ears.
