Great opportunities in sports unlocked for Pioneer Students

The CRV Sports Academy from Pioneer Trust has joined hands with Raman Vijayan Soccer School (RVSS) to conduct free Football Training Camp for students of Pioneer Educational Institutions.

Former Indian footballer Raman Vijayan, who is also the Founder-Director of RVSS and Noble Foundation is providing Coaching during this camp which started on November 9 and will continue till November 23. The camp is being held at Pioneer School and College premises in the mornings and evenings.

Mr.Vijayan is one of the superstars of Indian football history, and he is renowned for scoring 10 goals in 18 matches during the 1997–98 NFL season. He is just one of the two Indian footballers to achieve such a feat.

Regarding this collaboration, Mr.Vijayan said ” I visited the campus 2 months ago. Both the college and school are in the same campus, and I found the sports facility to be good. I spoke with the Managing Trustee of Pioneer Trust, Ms.Aparna about making something remarkable in sports for the students.”

” Being a tremendous sportsperson, and coming from a sports family, she knows the incredible opportunities that sports could unlock for children and young college students. So we thought of going for a collaboration. Initially this camp is arranged to create football awareness among students of the Pioneer Institutions. I thought a handful of students would arrive at the camp but to my surprise and joy, more than 100 students turned up. 40 of them are girls. The enthusiasm is phenomenal here and this is what we need.”

Mr.Vijayan and his team shared that these students have to be taught from the scratch, and his team is doing that in these camps. There is a plan to set up a good boys and girls football team at Pioneer, and that is the long-term plan of this partnership. Regarding the performance of the aspirants at the camp, he said ” the students here are quick learners, passionate and punctual. That’s a good start for us. This is really going to be a very good opportunity for them”

Aparna Rajkumar, Managing Trustee of Pioneer Trust said that she is extremely glad to note that her students have shown immense interest to take part in sports, especially football.

She conveyed that though rains visit the camp occasionally, the football ground that was made several decades ago under the supervision of C.R.Visswanathan, the former Vice President of All India Football Federation and Former President of Tamilnadu Football Federation remains perfect to be of complete use for practicing and playing during this camp.

She further shared that in the near future, many sports achievements will come from Pioneer Institutions and Jothipuram region. She said that sports gives students the opportunity to excel in ways they have not known before. She added that in the coming months, measures to provide coaching in multiple-sports will be taken by the Trust.
