Incessant rain claims more than 30 lives in Kerala, orange alert issued at various places

Rain, landslide has claimed 35 lives in Kerala so far. Incessant rainfall and flood fury lead trail of destruction in several parts of the State. Kottayam, Iduki and Alapuzha are some of the worst affected districts.

An orange alert has been issued in the affected districts. Relief and Rescue are underway. Indian Army forces have been deployed at Kottakkal, Kotayam and Wayanad. National Disaster Response Force teams are also engaged in rescue operations.

PM Modi spoke with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and got details of the situation there. He also offered his condolences. So far 105 relief camps have been set up for the affected families, and additional arrangements are being made to add more.
