Healthy activities that took place during Health Minister’s visit to Covai

During the visit of Health Minister Ma. Subramanian to Coimbatore on Wednesday, several healthy activities took place in the city.

Activities related to World Handwashing Day (Oct.15) like proper washing of hands and best practices were inaugurated by the Minister, prior to the observance of the day. It took place at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. Several college and school students took part in this program.

Following that, he inaugurated the Food Safety Department’s ‘Satre Kuraipom’ awareness campaign and Repurpose Used Cooking Oil’ (RUCO) awareness campaign in Coimbatore.

Satre Kuraippom is an awareness campaign from Health Safety Department that aims to educate people on cutting down the use of oil, sugar and salt as it can lead to several non-communicable diseases including Diabetes. RUCO awareness campaign, is an initiative where the used cooking oil at hotels will be collected to change it into biodiesel and use it.
