KG Hospital announces Heart Failure clinic

Ahead of World Heart Day 2021, one of leading multispeciality hospitals in Coimbatore KG Hospital, announced the launch of an exclusive Heart Failure Clinic to provide advanced cardiac services.

The Hospital’s Chairman Dr.Bakthavathsalam made the announcement on Monday during a press meet. He shared that a dedicated team of 5 doctors along with special nurses, and the necessary infrastructure to treat patients with Heart Failure is being introduced at the hospital this year, and one of the leading Heart Transplantation Specialist in the country Dr.Balakrishnan will be supportive in their efforts.

Dr. G.Bakthavathsalam also shared that the incidence of heart failure/ heart attack is getting increased in youngsters more today. If they don’t consult a cardiologist immediately when they encounter symptoms like shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat, it will have serious impacts.

He conveyed that Smoking, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes can pave way for heart diseases, hence he wished people to follow a healthy lifestyle.
He said one’s heart health depends on how healthy his/her diet, lifestyle, physical fitness are. “Eat fruits, take veggies, avoid maida and oily food, follow a vegetarian diet if possible”, he advised.

Dr.Balakrishnan emphasized that healthcare should be made affordable for the population at large. He said the population in India in 1970s were around 540 million+ but in the next 50 years it reached more than a billion. He asked whether we had made the infrastructure ready for the new number of people who were added to Indian population.

He said as the cost of treatment increases, poor people will be forced to take critical decisions on whether they have to undergo treatment, which will cost them more than they could bear, or give up treatment and save the money that they have in hand. He expressed that this scenario should change, and there is lot of work to be done in that area.
