PSG Nursing’s splendid initiative to aid motherhood!

Pregnancy brings with it several moments of beauty & complexity. The family members around the expecting or new mother tend to focus more on the complexity part, naturally.

There may be some questions to which speculations come first, and the right answer only comes later. To assist moms and moms-to-be, PSG College of Nursing has introduced PSG Shashthi – a dedicated YouTube Channel that will feature awareness videos which are aimed to help them during that special period.

Dr.A.Jayasudha, Principal, PSG College of Nursing conveyed that Shasthi denotes a Goddess of Childbirth and protector of children in Sanskrit. This channel was introduced during the college’s celebration of World Breast Feeding Week 2021.

The Department of OBG Nursing of PSG College of Nursing organized a series of programs related to breastfeeding and pregnant women’s health. Starting from August 2nd, the department organized an international webinar for the students, health talk for mothers, lucky draw competition for new mothers and expecting mothers at the ward, mask painting among other interesting events.

While talking about Shashthi, Dr.Jayasudha shared that awareness videos highlighting the do’s and dont’s during pregnancy, how to breastfeed, what foods to take, what exercises to do, how to protect and maintain the health and body conditions of both mom and child will be uploaded to PSG Shashthi YouTube Channel by the faculty of OBG Department once in a week.

Family members of new and expecting mothers can make use of this channel, to get an idea of how to manage this complex period in a much easier and clearer way. While all can speculate, medical professionals can give a definite answer. This initiative is set to help more women in the days to come.
