Telangana Governor releases book penned by Dr.S.Velumani

Dr.Tamilisai Soundarajan, Governor of Telangana released the book ‘Control & Conquer Diabetes’, penned by one of the well reputed doctors in Coimbatore Dr.S.Velumani of Om Sakthi Hospital, Coimbatore on Sunday.

The book launch was held in Jenny’s Club. The first copy was received by Dr.R.Vasuki IAS, Chairperson, State Food Corporation. Many eminent members of society and industry like Dr.K.P.Ramasamy, Chairman, KPR Group of Companies, Iakoka Subramaniam, President, Nanneri Kazhagam, Sriram, Head-HR, Robert Bosch and others participated in the launch.

Dr.S.Velumani is an expert in Internal Medicine, and practices it at Om Sakthi Hospital for 40 years. He has written 5 books on Medicine and Spirituality.

In this book he has shared a lot of interesting ways to defeat diabetes. He has written about what sorts of food can help one to Conquer diabetes, and what can make them succumb to it.

Dr.Tamilisai, after releasing the book said that the very title of the book is impressive, and having read that book earlier, she shared at the event that 90% of the book is about food, food control and life-management.

She added that Dr.Velumani has taken meticulous care in even conveying the minute details like ‘how to approach the doctor’ to ‘what sort of foods one should eat to lead a healthy life’.

She appreciated Dr.Velumani’s effort to improve the quality of life of people by penning this wonderful book.

Dr.Vasuki in her address mentioned that India is the 2nd country in the world to have larger number of diabetes cases.

She added that the basic cause for diabetes occurring in people is due to lack of intake of nutritious food. She shared how the Government of India and Tamil Nadu takes measures to provide food support through schemes to the financially weaker sections.

She insisted that healthy food practice should prevail among people to keep our society safe from clutches of diabetes.

K.P.Ramasamy in his felicitation, appreciated Dr.Velumani’s initiative. He shared that we had the practice of adding more number of cereals and pulses in our daily food intake. But as we evolved culturally we became less conscious of the food we need to lead a healthy life.

He appreciated Dr.Velumani for writing about ‘how to prevent diabetes’. He also shared that even if a person gets affected by diabetes, it is still possible to keep it in control, provided they take care of their food, physical fitness and medication.

He recommended all to take few minutes of their time to involve in physical exercises.

Dr.Krishna Seshadri, Renowned Endocrinologist in Tamil Nadu and a friend of Dr.Velumani lauded this endeavor and requested him to come up with a Tamil version of the book, soon.

Jayabal, a well known Engineer & humanitarian and the brother of  Dr.Velumani shared that the book will be translated in major Indian languages in 4 months. He later proposed the vote of thanks.
