Workshop to increase nurses’ alertness in managing disaster

PSG College of Nursing is hosting a very significant workshop on the topic ‘Disaster Preparedness and Response :  Nurses’ Role’ between Jan.29 – Feb.4, 2021.

As health care personnel are the frontline warriors to be actively involved in disaster management, there is a great need for them to be technically and emotionally prepared to get into the situation and render their service to victims of any disaster scenario.

Nurses hold a major role in providing health care management system during all disaster phases including preparedness, response and recovery phase.  The college Principal Dr.A.Jayasudha said this workshop would be worthwhile as it offers great opportunity for the nurses to reform their knowledge with lively mock drills.

The press release from the college conveyed that Registrar of TNNMC  Dr.S.Ani Grace Kalaimathi delivered the Keynote address on the inaugural. The sessions from Jan 29th to Feb 4th will be handled by nursing and health team experts from various colleges, Government Sectors. They will deal with the fundamentals of disaster, pre-disaster and post-disaster sessions with mock drills.

The workshop is sponsored by the National Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of India and organized by Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council (TNNMC). This comes at a time when the services of nurses have been realized by all to be very important.
