New Parliament building’s construction works commence

After being delayed for more than 30-days, the construction work of the new Parliament building began on Friday, and it’s expected to be completed by the Diamond Jubilee of India’s Independence that will be on 2022.

This new Parliament building is a part of the Government’s ‘Central Vista’ project. It is a grand redevelopment project that will feature a new Parliament building, a common central secretariat and revamped three-km-long Rajpath, from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate, PM’s residence, PM’s office and Vice President’s Enclave.

Earlier its launch activities were put on hold by the apex courtas many petitions were filed against the project. After their legal clearing the constructions have begun.  The building is being constructed by Tata Projects Ltd on it will be spread over 64,500 square metre area. The building will be triangle in shape and it will grand and bigger than the existing one. The estimated cost of the project is  Rs 971 crore. This new building will be ahead of the present circular Parliament complex which will later become a museum.

Tata Projects Ltd. have expressed confidence that despite the delay they will deliver the project in time.
