9th round of talks between farmers-govt underway !

The talks to find middleground between the farmers and the Central Government is currently happening at New Delhi on Friday (15.1.2021), where the two parties are holding discussions for the 9th time.

Though the Supreme Court had said on January 11 that the implementation of the three farm-laws have been stayed until further orders arrive, the need to find solution to this issue is firm in the minds of farmers and government.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash are leading the talks with the farmers Union Representatives at  Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

Farmers have not agreed to see any amendments made to the laws but see it get repealed. Centre however says it is ready for amendments. Speaking about this 9th round of talks on Thursday, Tomar said “the government is ready to hold talks with farmer leaders with an open mind,” Tomar had said while speaking to reporters in Delhi.
