TNAU’s projects under TANII get Govt’s appreciation after inspection

C.Ponnaiyan, Vice-Chairman of State Development Policy Council, Govt of Tamil Nadu visited Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Monday to monitor and evaluate the Tamil Nadu Innovation Initiative Projects (TANII) funded with a budget of Rs.50 crores by Government of Tamil Nadu  

Dr. N. Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor, TNAU took the opportunity to brief the Vice-Chairman about the advanced research laboratories and the ongoing activities of TANII.

As a part of the visit, the Nano Labs, Bamboo oxygen park, newly face lifted botanical garden, the Rhizotron lab, ‘first of its kind in Asia’ for root research and other research facilities were witnessed by the Vice-Chairman. He appreciated the scientists for the progressive growth of TNAU under research cum innovation. 

Outcomes of the funded projects resulting in innovations were showcased. Prof Kumar highlighted the efforts taken to appraise the farmers through innumerable trainings for inducing entrepreneurial capacity and skill acquisition 

TNAU conveyed that during the past five years, the TANII schemes have brought out significant developments, due to which area expansion, yield increase, income augmentation and employment opportunities, the potential social and economic impact have been achieved.
