Coimbatore Vizha 2021 – A Celebration of Hope

The 13th edition of Coimbatore Vizha got inaugurated on Saturday at ESI Hospital aerially. From the skies, a helicopter showered flowers over the Covid-warriors at ESI Hospital as a display of gratitude to the health-care personnel who protected lives during the severe stage of pandemic.

The inaugural was held in the presence of Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S.P.Velumani and Health Minister Dr.C.Vijayabaskar. The Ministers addressed the gathering.

The Vizha will go all the way to the 10th of January with a series of well-planned inclusive events, that has one important agenda to them – Celebrate Hope.  The Vizha is totally virtual this time, to ensure no one’s safety is compromised. Close to 100 events have been arranged by the organizers with the support from sponsors. The majority of the events are all free to participate and experience.

The events are exquisitely thought and planned that they offer something valuable for everyone. During the inaugural, Health Minister Dr.C.Vijaya Baskar, lauded the efforts put in by the health workers of the city-based Government ESI Medical College and Hospital and the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital in treating COVID- 19 patients.

“Tamilnadu Government has succeeded in controlling the spread and reducing the number of corona (COVID-19) patients. Few months ago the count used to be in the hundreds; however, today in our state, this number has dropped to single digits. Thanks to the combined efforts of the head of our state, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and the administration departments of each district who have worked as a team in fighting the virus. Thanks to team Yi for coming up with a concept of honouring the corona frontline team as an inaugural event of Coimbatore Vizha” he said delivering in his address at the event.

Minister S P Velumani said “I am happy to be given the opportunity to show my gratitude for the health line workers of the ESI hospital and Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. We are fortunate that our CM had sanctioned enough funds to Coimbatore district to deal with the pandemic. The CM visited the various in person and held several rounds of talks with the health minister and district officials from various departments to understand the needs of each district in dealing with the pandemic. As an outcome of such discussions, amma mini clinics were launched in several districts for the public.” the minister said.  “Coimbatore is a safe city today, thanks to the medical workers and officials from other departments who have worked as a team in the tough times, 2020 was tough but with the help frontline workers and the actions taken by Chief Minister and Health minister and with the support for the peoples of tamilnadu we have reduced the spread.” added the minister.
