I Salute the Farmers – Venkaiah Naidu

The 41st Graduation Ceremony of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University was held on Thursday, at the University Grounds. Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu took part as the Chief Guest.

Chancellor of the University and Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit, K.P. Anbalagan State Minister for Higher Education and Agriculture, and TNAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. Kumar and many other dignitaries took part.  At the ceremony, 1,385 students received degrees directly and 57 by post.

The Vice President said that during this pandemic period, while all the other sectors contracted, agriculture alone performed well and provided vital support to the economy.  The Food grain production has significantly increased this year compared with the previous year. “I salute the farmers for displaying indomitable spirit and dedication even during the most difficult times.” he said.

He called upon the graduates to spearhead technology-led sustainable agricultural development, enable farmers to realize better incomes and ensure food and nutritional security to the teeming millions of our country.

“Your research must be relevant to the society and focus on finding solutions to various problems faced by mankind from climate change to health issues.” He told the graduates to boldly go forward and tap the opportunity.
