Parents want school reopening to be moved to Jan 2021!

College re-opening date to be announced on Nov 12

While the Tamil Nadu Government had announced that colleges in the State will re-open on November 16, politicians, academicians, teachers association have raised concerns over the re-opening due to fears over the prevailing pandemic crisis.

Regarding this, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K. P. Anbazhagan said that after getting feedback from parents, teachers and students, the Higher Education Ministry will announce the reopening date on November 12.

He said this on Monday (Nov 9). On the very same day, feedback from parents across Tamil Nadu regarding reopening of schools in the State is being collected. Parents in many regions have requested that the school-reopening should be made only on Jan 2021, citing rainy season as an important factor that can affect children’s health.

Due to the pandemic the schools and colleges were closed on Mar.24 all over the State. The re-opening is now a hot topic in the State.

 

Update: 

Around 3.50 p.m. on Monday, news reports from media sources said that the 60% of parents have showed support to reopen schools on November 16, 2020. The official announcement regarding the reopening or postponement will come out; sources conveyed.
