The 67th Annual General Meeting of Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association (SIEMA) was held on Thursday on both virtual and physical platforms.
At the meeting, K.V.Karthik, MD, Deccan Industries was elected the new President, D.Vignesh, Director, Ellen Pumps, Mithun Ramdass, Director Mahendra Pumps and Ma. Sendhil Kumar, Founder, Supertec Industries were elected Vice Presidents.
Karthik said that Coimbatore contributes to more than 55% of pump-set production of the country and the association will find solutions to increase that level. This is a challenge and Karthik said his team will work on it with focus.
The other challenge he said is that the Government should give enough opportunities to Coimbatore in the Solar Pumpset program. An official statement from the association also mentioned that the solar power pumping program of the government has not taken of in the expected way. SIEMA has communicated to the government the changes required in the policy to make the program successful.
Karthik said Mithun will look after administrations, Vignesh will be in-charge of Taxation and Ma. Sendil Kumar will oversee the association’s support rendered to new members. This new team would hold office for the next two years.
K.Krishnakumar, the outgoing President of the association said that the pump industry faced lots of hurdles in its operations in 2020 due to the pandemic and it lost the major sales seasons this year. He said they somehow managed the situation and the recovery from this economic scenario for all will be very gradual than the usual.
Following his speech, the Election Officer of SIEMA C.R.Shanmugha Sundaram announced the newly elected to Managing Committee Members of the association, and appointment of the association’s auditor. Report of the past two-years’ activities and auditing were presented to the members.
