Datri Blood Stem Cell Donor Registry, a not-for-profit organization is hosting its signature event ‘Get Sporty, Gift a Life’ through out this month of September virtually due to the lockdown. This event is fundraiser and an awareness campaign from Datri which is held this year with the support from Rotary Club of Coimbatore Green City and Personiv – a private BPO Organization.
Even though India has the third highest number of Blood Cancer and other Blood disorder patients in the world, there is limited awareness in knowing that these diseases are curable. It is a need of the hour to save people from these diseases and create awareness, which will increase the number of registered donors. Datri has been working towards – increasing the awareness of Blood Stem Cell Donation, facilitating the donation and saving lives. This year, there are more than 1000 participants promoting the cause.
The participants will involve in simple sports activities like regular cycling routine around their neighborhood, a daily walk down the road, or a treadmill run (while adhering to safety norms). They woul also do Pushups, Squats, Planks, Suryanamaskars etc. These are taken as challenges from Datri by them throught September.
Sethukarasi Sokkalingam , Head of Opetations at Datri said this is a great way of promoting fitness, especially during these unprecedented times of working from home for several corporates. It is an opportunity to integrate Health & Wellness along with a noble cause.
