JEE-Main 2020 begins!

The Joint Entrance Examination – Main for this year began on Tuesday at 9 a.m. The National Testing Agency (NTA) which is conducting these exams from September 1-6 has deployed strict regulations to ensure that safety of candidates or anyone in the premises is affected. The JEE (Main) exam is being held in 660 centres across India today.

Body temperature checking, adequately spaced standing arrangements (while candidates wait) alternate seating arrangements, etc were all made. It has been made mandatory to wear face-mask and gloves for the candidates. They will have to carry their own water bottles and hand sanitizers inside.

Earlier when the exams’ dates were announced, there were protests from few students, parents, activists and politicians to postpone the exams to a later date because of the pandemic. Pleas/Petitions were filed in the apex court of India to defer the date of JEE Main but the court said that COVID’s threat may last for a year and student’s career cannot be jeopardized.

“Life cannot be stopped. We have to move ahead with safeguards and all… Are students ready to waste one whole year? Covid may continue for a year more,” Justice Arun Mishra said.

Clearing JEE Main will help the students to land in the esteemed National Institute of Technology (NITs) and engineering institutes of eminence. Only by clearing JEE – Main, a candidate can appear for JEE- Advanced. If a student clears JEE-Advanced, he/she can enter the prestigious IITs.
