A Jaipur based software company OneTouch App Labs recently developed an app to detect and delete android apps that have been made by Chinese companies. This app called ‘Remove China Apps’ has become the top free app in Google’s Playstore according to Gadgets 360 and has a whooping 4.8 star rating out of 5.
All this happened in just 2 weeks. It was made available on May 17 for users to download. More than 10 lakhs users have downloaded the app. It requires no log-in and users can simply scan their phone to identify which apps are from China.
Only the apps that are installed from Google Play Store and from third-party sources are detected and pre-installed apps could not be identified while scanning.
As of late, relationship between China and India is not cordial. The sentiments over China is not friendly due to China moving its army and forces near Ladakh area. Besides that, opinion on China over COVID-19 could also have triggered the call for removing Chinese apps.
In the app description in play store, the developer mentioned “This application is being developed for educational purposes only to identify the country of origin of a certain application(s), we do not promote or force people to uninstall any of the application(s)…”
The app has received very positive feedback from the users.
