TN Govt formally extends lockdown to April 14

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edapaddi K.Palaniswami after holding discussion with District Collectors through video conferencing decided to extend the statewide lockdown period from April 1 to April 14 to curb the spread the Covid-19. Uzhavar Sandhai and Vegetable shops should operate between morning 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Restaurants and Grocery Shops can run throughout the day. No time limit has been given for these 2 shops, the CM said. At the same time, he wanted people to exercise strong social-distancing practice in grocery shops and pharmacies.

Food delivery companies like Swiggy, Zomato and Uber Eats etc are prohibited to deliver foods to home. CM has also announced that private banks should not collect interest for loans taken during this period, until the Government announces. If anyone collects interest , they will be serious actions will be taken on them. In order to make the essential commodities be available for all,  9 teams of senior IAS officials will be formed and they will closely monitor how the essential goods and services reach the public without any delay.
