Elites contribute generously, help people fight COVID-19

The elite of the world come to the aid of humanity in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak. Bill Gates has pledged 100 Million USD through The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to aid global research and treatment of Coronavirus.

Jack Ma, Chinese Billionaire on the other hand has contributed through Alibaba Foundation and Jack Ma Foundation. He has sent the consignment of medical donations to Africa. The medical infrastructure in Africa is relatively small, and so Ma has sent 5.4 million face masks, kits for 1.08 million detection tests.

International Entertainment Streaming service provider Netflix has announced 100 Million USD relief for the creative community and affected-employees of Netflix.

A few Indians too have made their country a better place. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group has announced that his company will immediately begin work on how their manufacturing facilities can make ventilators. He tweeted that they are ready to offer their resorts – Mahindra Holidays as temporary care facilities.

“Our Projects team stands ready to assist the Govt/Army in erecting temporary care facilities.The Mahindra Foundation will create a fund to assist the hardest hit in our value chain (small businesses & the self employed)”

“We will encourage associates to voluntarily contribute to the Fund. I will contribute 100% of my salary to it & will add more over the next few months. I urge all our various businesses to also set aside contributions for those who are the hardest hit in their ecosystems”

Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedata Resources followed Anand Mahindra’s footprints and said that he will be committing Rs.100 crores towards fighting the Pandemic. He tweeted “many people are facing uncertainty & I’m specially concerned about the daily wage earners, we will do our bit to help”
