Woman loses Gold Jewels on road ; Ola driver returns it fairly

Gopu, an Ola Auto driver-partner, from Coimbatore showed impeccable honesty by turning in a bag of gold jewellery worth INR 2.43 lakhs to the local police, after finding it on the roadside. Gopu’s actions ensured that the bag was returned to its rightful owner.

While Gopu was making his way towards Lakshmi Mills in Coimbatore, he spotted the unattended bag with the gold jewellery near the Red Cross building junction. He took the responsibility to hand the bag over to the police, and immediately intimated the owner based on the details printed on the receipt.

On receiving the lost property, Coimbatore’s Trichy Road resident, K Gayathri, who works with Oriental Insurance Company, said, “I had worked very hard to save up for the purchase, and couldn’t fathom the loss. When I got the news about Gopu having turned in the bag to the police, I was ecstatic. I am so grateful to the gentleman for making sure the jewellery was returned to me safely. I applaud his honesty! He has set a very good example for all of us to follow.”

Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan lauded K. Gopu for his sense of responsibility and commitment on Saturday. As part of its ‘Heroes of Ola” program, Ola also felicitated Gopu for his honesty and integrity. Ola Auto driver partner, K Gopu said, “I was anxious when I found the gold and felt it was my moral responsibility to make sure that the bag reached its rightful owner. I am honored to be recognized by the authorities and being called a ‘Hero of Ola’, but I would expect anyone to return what is not theirs to the rightful owner.”

‘Heroes of Ola’ is a program that rewards and felicitates driver-partners who go above and beyond their call of duty to set high standards of customer service, or have displayed exemplary character in service of the public.
