Validation from TN Govt proves PSG has stood with the Poor & Needy

Treats 4,200 patients under CM Scheme; the highest ever in Coimbatore

The story of PSG & Sons’ Charities gives a goosebumps every time we hear it. The four sons of P.S.Govindasamy Naidu (PSG) who were heirs of their father’s huge fortunes adopted their fifth brother in 1926. But this new member in the PSG Family is not a human but humanity itself. The 5th brother is ‘Charity’. The 4 sons of P.S.Govindasamy Naidu wanted to elevate society and so they divided their inherited fortunes and split it into 5 parts. The fifth share went to their 5th brother- Charity; out of which many hospitals and educational institutions were born and have successfully catered to the needs of the society and country at large.

The primary goals of PSG & Sons’ Charities is to provide quality education and healthcare to people, and in that objective a matriculation & higher secondary school, a medical college, two state of the art hospitals, an Arts & Science College, two Engineering College, a Polytechnic College and a B-School etc were established by the family members of PSG.

Charity is cherished as the Trust’s core principle and under that a significant number of admission for education and medical care is granted by the Trust. The depth of love and vision for Coimbatore and its people that these 4 individuals had cannot be fathomed but celebrated.

For PSG Institutions or the PSG Trust, it has never been in their desire to drum the service that they do or the laurels that they receive. The 96 year old Trust continues to serve all sides of society equally.

One of the institution under it – PSG Hospitals has treated 4,200 patients under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme in the year 2019. Among all the other private multi-specialty hospitals in Coimbatore, this is the highest ever.

For rendering its service to the poor and needy, the hospital was presented the Best Performance Award by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. Dr.C.Vijaya Baskar, the Minister for this department presented the award to PSG’s representative on a recently held award ceremony in Chennai.

The Covai Mail sat with the representatives of PSG Hospitals who have received the award to know more about this honor.

It was conveyed that a study about the performance of all private hospitals in regards to their rendering of treatment in CM Health Insurance Scheme was made at the District Collectorate.

When PSG Hospitals’ performance was reviewed it was found that it had treated 4,200 patients under this scheme. Since it is a multi-specialty hospital, it has been possible for the hospital to meet all the health care needs of the multitude of patients.

During the reviewing, the hospital’s abidance to the rules and regulations that has to be followed by an empanelled hospital such as displaying the availability of CM Scheme, Acceptance of patients with the CM Scheme Insurance, checking whether there is a show-cause notice on the hospital, checking the proper organization of CM Scheme Medical Camps in rural areas etc were all analyzed. Performance on all departments was exceptional.

After all analysis, it was evident that PSG Hospitals is the best multispecialty hospital to treat such a huge number of patients than any other hospital and it was honored with the Best Performance Award.

Beneficiaries of this CM Scheme addressed and expressed their thanks to the government and to the hospitals that helped them.

This scheme from the Tamil Nadu Government has been a boon to its people. The representative of PSG Hospitals said they have done 300 cochlear surgeries and counting so far under the CM Scheme and they also provide follow up and speech therapy.

Of course, there are other hospitals that take up patients under CM Scheme but what distinguishes PSG Hospitals is that their support goes beyond the scheme.

The representative of the hospital said that once the money allotted for the procedure is exhausted, PSG trust comes forward to bear the expenses. For eg, it would cost Rs.20,000 for a hernia operation, the package covers that Rs.20,000. When the patient gets discharged after a week, the final cost would be more than what was covered under the scheme. That cost is borne by PSG & Sons’ Charities. In this manner, hundreds of patients get aid from the PSG Trust every month.

The package amount fixed for major procedures  like renal, liver, heart & lung transplant and cochlear implant surgeries would not suffice the treatment in its entirety, these the Trust bears and doesn’t charge the patients, the representative added.

This recognition from the Government of Tamil Nadu is a proof that PSG &Sons’ Charities commitment to the society runs the same since its foundation to the present. The voice of the benefitted sounds louder than ever.
