GKNMH introduces Advanced ECHO Cardiography Equipment

With heart ailments increasing in both rural and urban population in India every year, heart surgeons in reputed hospitals provide outstanding services in saving lives. GKNMH’s cardiac team which has been doing exceedingly well in caring for heart patients have received an upgraded ECHO Cardiography Equipment – The GE VIVID E95 R3.0.

This new device is that latest one filled with advanced technology that can aid greatly in saving lives. This is the first time this device is being launched in India. It is powered by artificial intelligence and is the state-of-the -art Echocardiography machine.

New technology and workflow tools in this machine provide fast, accurate visualization and quantification of heart structures. With exceptional 2D and 4D image quality VIVID E95 gives valuable information for all types of patients during cardiac surgery. It is very user friendly and easily configurable. It has got all the advanced quantification tools for diagnosis of complex cardiac diseases. It was unveiled by Dr.Ragupathy Veluswamy, CEO, GKNMH.

Talking about the machine,  Dr. P. Chandrasekar – Chairman Cardiothoracic Surgery & Director Cardiac Transplant Services  said “this device is the latest ECHO device that is being installed for the first time in India. The machine gives great assistance post the treatment for the doctors to verify whether all treatments/operation are done in a 100% perfect manner. Only after that, they are brought out of the theatre.

With the use of earlier versions, GKNMH, for the past 15 years has been ensuring this standard of care. Now with the advanced features that is in this machine, the treatment process gets an upgrade. It improves the precision and perfection of surgery. This is exclusive operation theater equipment. The well-experienced Anesthesia team will use this device and guide us before the surgery, during the surgery and post the surgery; making us ensures that the surgery is done perfectly.”

Sai Gopalakrishnan, Cardiac Anesthetists, GKNMH added that “earlier ECHO Cardiography would be done by cardiologists. After that they will convey the defects in heart. After that the operation will be planned accordingly. In the last 15 years, we have been using the ECHO devices in the operation theatre itself.

Earlier we use to replace heart valves (if they are affected), now we are repairing them, which is a great benefit to the patients.  The tablets for internal bleeding of the heart valves were a necessity earlier, when patients were required to replace the heart valves then. But now, since we repair them with the help of this device. This upgraded device will further enable us to do valve repair procedures and by-pass surgery greatly.”
