Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangham honors Narthaki Nataraj

The 34th Annual Dance festival of Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangham got off to an excellent start on 10.10.19 at KKG Thirumana Mandapam Auditorium, Pollachi.

G.D.Gopalakrishnan, Hon Secretary, said that this year’s festival is special as it has been expanded from 5days to 8 days. Troupes from all over India including Calcutta, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Kerala & Bangalore are participating.

The award ‘Natiya Kalai Chudar’ was conferred on eminent Bharatanatyam dancer Narthaki Nataraj by the Chief Guest K.Periaiah, IPS, IG of Police, West Zone.

Delivering the acceptance speech, Dr Narthaki Nataraj thanked Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangham for conferring the award on her. Guest of Honor N.V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions, congratulated Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangham for their immense contribution to Art & Culture from a Taluk Headquarters.

The award function was followed by a dance program ‘Navaratna Nayaki’ by the students of Guru Mridula Rai of Sri Natya Nikethan Dance School, Coimbatore which included 6 transgenders. The dance festival concludes on 17.10.19.
