Ramakrishna Hospital demonstrates agility in response to mock trauma accident

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore, through a mock accident drill, demonstrated its rapid response to the scenario on 20.9.2019. This was organised to keep the medical team and service personnel alert prepared for any kind of emergency situation.

In the mock drill which was staged near the Sri Ramakrishna Urban Health Centre, a bus with 25 passengers, lost its grip and hit a big tree and two wheeler. 21 passengers inside the bus were injured in various stages – from critical to minor injuries.

The blood loss, wreckage of bone and ligaments and head injuries were exhibited realistically.Upon a phone call, the hospital’s ambulances took approximately 2.5 minutes to reach the accident site and examined the victims immediately.With the support of the police, the traffic was cleared and the path was made ready for the ambulance to move without any hindrance.

A wave of medical professionals from medical institutions affiliated to SNR Trust were on high response.Teams were made ready to help the victims who were taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Dr. Issac Christian Moses, Dean, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital said ” this mock drill is the third drill to be executed by the hospital. It has been arranged to create awareness, coordination between the medical teams to help the accident victims in real life scenario. All the agility and expertise that was exhibited in this drill will reflect in the real life situations and the hospital will always be prepared to help the injured”

The medical professionals didn’t think of the drill as just a drill, and were working too focused on rescuing and sending the victims to hospital. 2 ambulances swiftly moved back and forth to hospital and accident zone more than twice with the team.
