PSG Tech conducts Industry Conclave & Workshop on Deep Learning

Inaugurates PSG- Centre for Audio Visual Speech Recognition

PSG College of Technology held the inaugural of PSG- CAVSR (Centre for Audio Visual Speech Recognition) on 9th August 2019. Following that a two day Industry Conclave and Hands on Workshop on Deep Learning was also inaugurated. The workshop was between 9.8.2019 and 10.8.2019.

PSG-CAVSR is the Centre for Audio Visual Speech recognition developed under Department of Science and Technology – Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (ICPS). The centre hosts an intelligent lecture capturing system with dedicated High Performance Computing GPU server for intensive research.

The Chief Guest of the Inauguration  PSG-CAVSR was AR Unnikrishnan, Head Business, Higher Education & Research, NVIDIA South Asia. Sivakumar Krishnasamy, Technical Architect, IBM, Bangalore was the Guest of Honor. Dr. K Prakasan, Principal I/C,PSG College of Technology presided over the program.

The centre’s main objective is to develop an e-Learning content to aid the hearing impaired and can also be used by the student community at large. It aims to develop a synergistic relationship with the leaders of industry, academia and government and provides opportunity for students to process speech and video using deep learning. It is a Centre of Excellence for Advance high performance computing technology, Video Processing, Speech Analytics, Research Using Deep Learning.

The Industry Conclave focuses A.I. Revolution and the future and Use cases of AI in the real world. The conclave creates a platform for deep learning researchers, practitioners and business executives to share their expertise and knowledge with participants. It will provide an interactive forum for discussion on recent and on-going developments, key issues and challenges and practices related to deep learning applications. The objective of this conclave is to create a platform for deep and meaningful interaction between industry & academia in the area of deep learning.
