Your yearly performance should be your selfie

KMCH Institute of Health Sciences & Research inaugurated the 2019 MBBS Batch on 1.8.2019.The Inauguration Ceremony took place in the KMCH Auditorium. Dr.Nalla.G.Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH presided over, Padma Shri Awardee Dr.R.V.Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sankara Eye Foundation was the Chief Guest. Dr.Thavamani D.Palaniswami , Vice Chairperson, KMCH graced the occasion with her presence. It was attended by the freshmen of 2K19 batch of KMCH IHSR along with their parents. Members of KMCH and institutions affiliated to it also attended the event

Dr.V.Kumaran, Dean, KMCH IHSR delivered the Welcome Address. He stated that the inaugural is a red-letter day for KMCH as it inaugurates its first batch of MBBS students of KMCH IHSR. The brand KMCH has stood tall in various specialties and venturing into medical education has been an incredible achievement that is to be cherished.

Dr.Nalla G.Palaniswami delivered the Presidential Address. He congratulated the students for choosing KMCH IHSR. He said people might ask that why should they study in KMCH IHSR which is actually a new college.

He said that his team has great international exposure – his two sons Dr. Arun N Palaniswami, Executive Director, P.Mohan S.Gounder, Director,  KMCH have been in the USA for around 2 decades and they could add inputs in addition to the Indian Knowledge in the field of Medicine. He said his team is looking to infuse international knowledge and value into our Indian practices which are still maturing and in course of time they will get better. “Indian Doctors are the best brains in the medical field”, he stated.

Mentioning about the faculty, he said they have well experienced doctors to teach, an outstanding medical director Dr. T.P. Kalaniti, Dr.M.G.Sridhar, Vice Principal and directors of the hospital who will help the students to steer their academics, career and character in the right path.

Acknowledging the presence of Dr.R.V.Ramani, he said Dr.RVR, being a member of the Medical Council of India and a well-wisher of KMCH,  will surely guide the college in its journey.

Dr.Nalla G.Palaniswami said that in his vast experience he has learned that being a disciplined person of refined character is paramount in life. Addressing directly to the students, he suggested them to have empathy when they deal with patients, uphold their dignity in their period of study and also when they become professionals. He wanted them to differentiate themselves from the common populace, maintain decent personality and most of all asked them to focus on helping the poor and sick.

Dr.R.V.Ramani delivered the Chief Guest’s Address.  He congratulated the 2019 MBBS batch for their successful clearing of NEET and choosing KMCH IHSR. He said that this institution provides best infrastructure needed for medical education, has the senior most consultants and faculty whose academic knowledge and decades of experience can add a lot to the acumen of the students and a management willing to give the best education and culture. “This is great lunch on a golden platter for you to take”

He asked the students to optimally make us the college to better their knowledge and character.  He asked the students to take care of their health and mind as a healthy body without a healthy mind or vice versa is not going to bear fruits. Same way he wanted them to increase their academic knowledge and societal love; one without the other nulls the productivity, he cautioned.

Suggesting the students to be individuals of passion and hardwork, he reminded them of Sachin Tendulkar. “Sachin’s passion for cricket lived till the last match he played and for his final game which was a friendly contest, the master blaster practiced for 3 hours. Have such passion and endeavor”, he recommended. He urged them to not do any deed with expectations of rewards or appreciation.  He wished the students to hone their communication skills and suggested them to perceive the mind of patients and reply with kindness.

He advised the students to look for opportunities in life and have a simple attitude to scale heights. Before closing he said “For you (the students), your selfie should be your every year’s performance, the values you have learned, the way your blossoming in your education and your career, that is your selfie. It is my selfie and I am willing to autograph it”.  He wanted them to stamp their accomplishments of which they should be happy.

P.Mohan S.Gounder, Director, KMCH, congratulated the students and suggested them to learn well and earn good friends. He advised them to develop the habit of listening and listen to the words of patients in future, as they normally come in with so many fears and pain.

He cautioned them to learn continuously due to the constant changes that happen in technology and education. “When you finish your college, there will be a lot more to learn in the world. You need to be an expert”, he said.
