“Engineers are solution-finders to every problems” -Amol Gadre at PSG Tech.

PSG College of Technology organised General Orientation Program for the Freshmen of 2019 on 21.7.2019.

The Quadrangle of the College was filled by the 2000 freshmen who had come with their parents/guardians.

This program was conducted to provide the freshmen about the College’s protocols, usage of facilities, placement program and most of all to give insight about the responsibilities the newcomers to college have and the value the college and the name PSG carries.

Amol M.Gadre, Sr.Depy.Genral Manager, L&T was the Chief Guest of the program.

Dr.K.Prakasan, Principal (i/c), PSG Tech addressed the parents and the freshers about the activities of the college.

He congratulated the students for making it into PSG which is itself a challenge. He conveyed to the gathering that the college has secured top rankings in NIRF 2019 and NAAC.

He briefed on the high level of infrastructure the management has provided and proudly stated the value of the college’s faculty who are veterans in their respective fields. He said all the faculty would like to go an extra mile to give the students a firm grip over academics.

He touched upon the transparency maintained in the college. He said the college doesn’t charge the students anything out of the blue. He advised the students to have undivided attention in their academics, learn more and gain experience and most of all know the value of life.

The Chief Guest in his address L&T is proud to be associated with PSG as it as been providing outstanding outgoing students every year.

He said that the present world is a rapidly changing, digitised and connected world. There has been huge disruption in the world of technology because of the accelerated pace of inventions. He pointed that Automations and A.I. are already taking over some jobs away, slowly.

He said many Engineering institutions forget to teach social/behavioral skills. But he appreciated PSG for inculcating values in its educational institutions.

Addressing the students he said “you are all independent,fast, multitasking engineers of today and you have a bright future.” But he cautioned them of the world’s physical state in the near future which will turn less green and greatly mean if they (the future engineers) fail to act upon it. “Engineers are solution-finders to every problems”, he said.

He said to the students, there will be diverse challenges for them in the world as the community needs personalized solution and the world need solutions for complexities.

He advised them that for all these changes to come, engineers have to step up. He wanted the Aspiring engineers to improve their self-discipline as it would keep their level of self-discipline high.

He wanted them to remain motivated and avoid being in their comfort zone. Talking about college period, he said this is the time where they strengthen their foundation and this is also the time where too much of fear comes their way.

“Fear comes due to lack of confidence and irrational thinking. I suggest you to be bold and courageous. By courage I dont ask you to ignore fear but act despite your fears”, he said.

He wished them to accept mistakes as ot provides great opportunities to learn more. He suggested them to enjoy yhe present and never surrender to circumstances.

He said that life gives what we like and sometimes we should start to like what we get. He asked them to keep upgrading themselves and not remain outdated as they will outrun by the oncoming talented newbies.

He asked them all to ‘Reinvent, Retrain, Reskill and Reshape’ themselves. Ending his speech, he said ” Save Earth, Save lives” and think global, not just locally.

Follwing him, Dr.R.Venkatesan, Dean, Placement&Training of PSG Tech, Dr.K.Elangovan, Warden, Gents Hostel, Dr.M.Kalpana, Warden, Ladies Hostel addressed the students and parents.

Dr.R.Venkatesan spoke on the Placement Opportunities and the ways to shine through the Placement cell while the wardens spoke on the facilities and rules of the hostel.

The Students Union Chairperson, Adarsh V. Srinivasan addressed the students and spoke about the college from a student’s perspective.
