Chandrayaan 2 is postponed; new date to be announced soon

The entire India was wide awake today as it was said that Chandrayaan 2 would take off at 2:51 a.m. But due to technical issue, ISRO has halted the launch. The official Twitter habdle of ISRO said “A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system at 1 hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, Chandrayaan2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later.”

The cost of Chandrayaan 2 is approximately $124 Million and it was viewed by world nations in eagerness. If had laucnhed successfully, it would have set new highs as the economical space mission in recent years.

President Ram Nath Kovind was at Sriharikota – the launch site to witness the epoch-making moment. This mission is lead by 2 women – Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal, more than 30% of the team behind the mission are women. Ecerything was good before 50 mins of the launch but the issue had halted it.

Postponing this mission is actually not a setback but setting the mission for the right time. If they had ignored the issue and kicked off, it might have jeopardized the many years of effort. Being patient in this mission and postponing is actually a bold decision.
