Psy.Undergrads of PSG explore minds of Teenagers

When it comes to success in career; creative thinking, critical analysis and competency matters most. Employers expect fresher to possess good standards in these three traits besides good grades.

But many school going kids don’t even know that and rarely hear the words ‘Aptitude, IQ & Personality’ and the values it carries well into their career and beyond. So with the objective of creating a platform for school students to explore their inner strength PSG College of Arts and Science’s 54 final year Undergrad students belonging to the Department of Psychology conducted ‘Aptitude, IQ & Personality Tests to fifty 9th Grade students of Venkatalashmi Matric Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore on June 28. The activities were held in the UG Psychology Lab of the College.

The college students applied what they had learned from theory and training in their period of study. They were accompanied and guided by Dr. C.Balakrishnamurthy , Head, Department of Psychology (Aided), PSG CAS and the program was co-ordinated by Nachimuthu, Asst.Prof, Department of Psychology (Aided), PSG CAS.

The school students were given the opportunity to know about their intelligence and inner potential through this program. After test completion, the individual results of the school students were scored, & a personal score card explaining briefly about where they stand in each of the psychological qualities measured were given to each of the student. These psychological tests in the student age would help them later while making career choices & career advancement plans.

This extension activity was aimed at developing the proficiency of undergrad students of psychology, in administering psychological tests (& profiling), and also in extending professional assessment service to the school students.
