Have a question? Ask Vokal !

Bengaluru brains develop app to answer question in Tamil

We live in the Information age and with the advent of 4G, lowering of data price and increase in data quota; smartphone users have started consuming a lot of info everyday. But the major hiccup here is a majority of information in the internet is in English and only 10% of the country is well versed in English, as per sources.

Believing that a language shouldn’t be a barrier to access knowledge, Vokal, India’s largest vernacular Q&A knowledge sharing platform has launched the Vokal App in Coimbatore.

It was launched by Aprameya Radhakrishna, CEO, Mayank Bidawatka, Co-founder and Madhu Balan, Chie Engineer, Vokal.

We have big-time tech giants offering their voice assistants to provide access to information, Vokal differs here by having approximately20,000 participants who are available to answer the questions a user asks in their own mother tongue.

For instance, if you are a Bengali and you need to know how to apply for UPSC, you can simply ask via the app either by typing it or by just asking it in Bengali. A participant or another user will jump in to answer your question in Bengali itself.

One of the main vision behind this app is to bridge people and the information they need in their everyday lives. A huge variety of questions can be asked and through audio or video the answers will be given. The maximum response time for a question is 1 hour , if that question is a complex or  novel one.  All the answers given are first verified by the Vokal team to ensure quality outputs are given to the askers.  At present, the app is available in  Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya and Assamese.

It was learned that with these languages,  90% of India could be covered and Vokal is doing that to make people  connect with people by accessing the web and getting the solutions to questions asap.
