Delay in monsoon wreaks havoc in Chennai; temperature to taunt too

With the struggle for water reaching new areas every week, residents of Chennai are suffering as we speak. As per sources, water connection of the houses in Chennai that use high power water suction motors has been cut. Meanwhile the struggle for water has escalated tensions among the public, some of who have turned aggressive due to frustration. Violence over obtaining water has been reported in Chennai.

The total amount of water capacity in Chennai reservoirs, according to Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board is 11257 million cubic feet but as of now the stored water in the reservoirs is just 26 million cubic feet.  The Madras High Court had on 12.06.2019 asked the Govt of Tamil Nadu to submit a report about the measures the govt has taken to stop the water crises in Chennai on 17.6.2019 (today)

What is more painful to know is, the temperature in Chennai and other neighboring areas is likely to increase today.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai (RMC); heat wave condition is likely to prevail at some parts over Chennai, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Puducherry, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur and Trichy districts while severe heat wave conditions are likely to prevaile at isolated pockets in Tiruvallur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai districts.

It was also reported that Chennai, apart from facing heat wave conditions, it will have the highest temperature of 41 degrees and a minimum of 31 degrees for the next 48 hrs. The RMC, Chennai has also cautioned the public to not expose themselves to direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to avoid sunstroke.
