FICCI Flo, Coimbatore organized A Million Sitas – an aesthetically choreographed dance rendition of Ramayana that is masterfully envisioned and choreographed by Anita Ratnam, one of the country’s highly respected writer, speaker, arts entrepreneur and culture mentor.
This event was held in the auditorium of PSG IMSR on 6.6.2019. Geeta Padmanaban and Sunitha Venkat Kumar of FICCI Flo acted as Event Chairs. In A Million Sitas, Anita Ratnam uses every weapon in her creative arsenal such as Voice, movement, song, dance, theatrical improvisations and storytelling to illuminate the character of Sita.
A Million Sitas showcased Sita’s many avatars and the numerous lines she has to cross to finally become every woman and yet remain her true self. Admired, adored, pitied, invoked, worshipped, Sita is the four letter word that shadows every Indian woman until today. A Million Sitas puts her front and centre of the ongoing debate for the recovery of a woman’s voice.
