PSG launches DST-TMD Project

Covai to get smart-water supply & distribution

PSG College of Technology launched the DST-TMD Project -“Internet of Things (IoT) based Smart Water Supply and Distribution System for Coimbatore City” on 29.05.2019 at the college premises.

R.Sasipriya, Executive Engineer, Coimbatore City Municipality Corporation (CCMC) was the Chief Guest while P.Gopalakrishnan, City Engineer (Rtd) was among the distinguished guests who took part in the inauguration.

The Project will be executed by PSG College of Technology along with industrial partner SMINT TIQ Pvt.Ltd, Chennai and the end user is Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.

The main objective is to minimize the wastage of water and implement smart distribution system for equal distribution of water among the entire region in the selected area. The pilot area allotted by CCMC for implementation and development of this project is “Cheran Nagar-Koundampalayam”.  The main idea is to reduce the gap existing between supply and distribution demand prevailing in most of the places in our country. The IoT based advanced technology helps to monitor and control the quantity, quality and distribution process of water in real time for the entire city.

On implementation, the corporation can perform online monitoring of important parameters like pressure, velocity, valve control, pH, dissolved oxygen etc for continuous measurement and alert system. Based on the availability of water in the tank, the proposed system will manage to control the water distribution by automatic valve control system.
