Fear of failure claims life of a girl who actually had passed in 10th

Santhiya, a 10th std student from Thandaraipettai  village in Madhuranthagam Town of Kanchipuram had taken her life away today fearing the TN Board Exam Results . Santhiya’s fear that she would fail made her to hang in her house in the morning prior to the announcement of the results.

Contrary to what she had thought, Santhiya actually cleared all he subjects and scored 191. This decision by the girl has really shell shocked her parents and the State of Tamil Nadu too.

Candidates who are appearing for 1-th and 12th Board Exams are often told to memorize answers than understand them. They have been groomed in a way that many of them think that marks are everything.

Instead of instilling the “Marks-Culture”, the teacher and education system should tell the students that updating one’s Practical Knowledge, Common sense, communication skills and technical skills are paramount to success.
