Director General of NCC visits Coimbatore NCC Group

Lt.Gen. Rajeev Chopra, Director General, National Cadet Corps visited the NCC Group of Coimbatore on a two day visit to inspect the NCC Group Coimbatore and review the NCC activities of the Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry & Andaman Nicobar Directorate. This is his first visit to the NCC Group Coimbatore after taking charge of NCC in Jan 2019. The General is closely associated with Tamil Nadu as he is also the Colonel Commandant of The Madras Regiment.

Lt Gen Chopra inspected the NCC Gp HQ and local units where he was briefed by the Group Commander, Coimbatore Group and Officiating Deputy Director General, Col HSS Krishna, SM.  

It must be mentioned that NCC Group of Coimbatore is the Champion Group of TN ,P & AN Directorate for four successive years and is one of the best NCC Groups in the country primarily because of the exemplary all round performances of the cadets of the Kovai Group at both the State and National level.

The General Officer also sought the presence of R.Rudramurthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology to get a first hand information of the aspirations of the present day youth and the challenges faced by academic trainers in moulding the youth. Thereafter the General presided over an interactive session at the College with 250 NCC Cadets, Associated NCC Officers and Service Officers to get the pulse of the cadets, their aspirations, achievements and futuristic requirements including new proposals to enhance the training methodology for an all round development of NCC cadets.

The Director General praised the achievements of the Coimbatore Group Cadets and assured them that all efforts to nurture their talents and aspirations will be taken. He also proposed fresh initiatives for cadets to undergo SSB training and Coimbatore to facilitate the cadets to join the Forces. He will again visit the NCC Group in the Nilgiris during the conduct of the Nilgiri Trek for girl cadets .
