If you cannot spend money, spend your time for the society – Ravi Sam

The 5th Annual Day of PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research – Daksha 2K19 was celebrated in a splendid fashion, recently.

Ravi Sam, Managing Director, Adwaith Lakshmi Industries Pvt Ltd was the Chief Guest. L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities graced the occasion with his presence.

P.V.Mohanram, Principal, PSG iTech welcomed the gathering and presented the Annual Academic Report highlighting the Academic, Co-Curricular, Extra-Curricular activities of the institutions.

L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG&Sons’ Charities delivered the Presidential Address. He appreciated the team behind PSG iTech’s top ranking among all engineering institutions affiliated to Anna University in Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Guest, Ravi Sam addressed the gathering. He advised the students to not shape their lives based on the Social Media Craze filled style but to live according to their means to be happy.

He congratulated the soon to be graduates, future professionals and entrepreneurs and suggested them to contribute to society. “Community thrives because of the magnanimity of the previous generations”. He wanted their impact on society to be fruitful. “Your contributions need not affect your bank balance. Just spend your time”. He wished the students to take part in the activities of NGOs and Social Activism.  He cited the city’s own Padmanaban Gopalan, Founder, No Food Waste, who received the Commonwealth Youth Award 2019 for Asia Region as an example. He then moved on to highlight the issues that need their attention.

“There are various threats today like climate change, inequality, automation and disappearance of jobs. Government cannot provide solutions to these issues”, he said and suggested that “everyone needs to unite to bring the change”.

Post his address, the Best Outgoing Student Award was presented. Abbas, Final Year student and Kowsalya, Final year student both from the Department of ECE earned the award. This Best Outgoing Student Award is instituted as PSG Venkataswamy Naidu Memorial Award. The winners each received the award, certificate and a half sovereign gold coin from L.Gopalakrishnan.

Meritorious awards were then presented to the students and faculty. An AV of the Academic, Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities of the institution was aired.

Chandramohan, Vice Principal, PSG iTech proposed Vote of Thanks and with the cultural events the program came to an end.
