Federer shines, Djokovic shutdown & Nadal sidelined – Miami Open 2019

Tennis fans around the world are tuning into the sensational ATP’s Miami Open 2019 which is currently going on in Hardrock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida. Roger Federer who lost to Dominic Thiem in Indian Wells Open recently gave a glimpse of his mastery with the racket and the stadium erupted with cheers when he defeated Daniil Medvedev to enter the quarter-finals and face Kevin Anderson.

Federer amidst his victory, during an interview announced that he has no idea when he will retire but hinted that it could come anytime.

“I don’t know if I’m going to win another slam, I thought the same years ago, I didn’t know. “Then I won three more. I tried to do a lot of the right things, I’ve got a wonderful team and I was able to stay positive in my head and get it done. Confidence is such an important factor in tennis and sports in general. How long will I stay in tennis? I wish I knew. “We’re not thinking about retirement, because, I feel like the more I think about it, the closer and closer I am to it”.

Meanwhile, Top Seed Novak Djokovic who won this year’s Australian Open had a shocking defeat at Miami. Roberto Bautista defeated him early and the Serbian Superstar blamed Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer partially for his loss. Djokovic who happens to be the President of ATP Players’ Council is not on the same grounds with those 2 other elite stars.

It was reported that ATP’s President Kermode has increased the prize money to a significant level during his 2nd tenure as the boss of ATP. Some of Kermode’s perspectives , according to Djokovic, is not right and while the two were in argument, Nadal and Federe extended their support to Kermode and not to Djokivic. This off court issue has really sidelined The DJoker.

On the other hand, Rafael Nadal who is recovering from injury is not in this Tournament while sources confirmed that he will be back in the game to fight at the Monte-Carlos Master that begins on April 15.

Federer is the only one in out of the 3 ace stars.
