PSG Nursing conducts Tamil Nadu’s first ever exclusive Trauma Nursing Conference.

PSG College of Nursing recently conducted a first ever state level conference on “Challenges in Trauma Nursing”.  It was held in the PSG IMS&R Auditorium.

Dr.James Gnanadoss, Orthopedic Surgeon , Bethestha Hospital was the Chief Guest while Dr.Ravikumar, Head, Emergency Nursing, CMC Vellore was the Guest of Honor.

Through Dr.Jayasudha, Principal, PSG College of Nursing, it was learned that Trauma Injuries which in medical terms represent accident related injuries is one of the top ten causes of death and the 4th leading cause of disabilities.

She pointed out that nurses are the first medical professionals to look at the injured and if  knowledge about specialised trauma identification, management and treatment is given to the nurses, then it could bring a significant difference in the lives of the injured. Dr.Jayasudha stated that’s the objective of this conference.

Talking to Dr.Ravikumar, we further came to know that one of his primary targets to hit through this conference to the gathering was to take the knowledge of Do’s and Dont’s to the first respondent of a trauma injury: The Bystander. There are certain things the bystanders can do to save the injured while there are things they shouldn’t do with the inefficient intel they have as an untrained person.

His next focus was to on disseminating knowledge to the nurses to help them in the process of becoming professionally trained to handle trauma injuries on par with International standards.

This conference was attended by approximately 380 Nurses, PG Nursing Students and Nursing Faculties all over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and from other states as well.

8 eminent medical professionals from reputed Hospitals in and around TN had delivered lectures.

This conference is followed by an illuminating workshop on 22.03.2019, titled “Advanced Trauma Life Support”. This workshop will see practical handling of many real-life like scenarios of trauma injuries; from injury to treatment.
