Indian Michael Jackson honored with Padma Shri

Prabhu Deva, often called as the Indian Michael Jackson has recently been honored with the Padma Shri award for the field of Art-Dance. Besides being an actor/dancer, Prabhu Deva has also helmed movies as director and choreographer. He has been in the movie industry for 25 years and has shined in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi entertaining everyone with his energetic dance moves that are simply extraordinary.

His choreography debut began with Vetri Vizha (1989) and since then he has choreographed more than 100 films.

He made his debut in 1994, making his lead role in the movie Indhu. He garnered critical acclaim for his dance and uniqueness with the film Kadhalan. Since then he has had several ups and a few downs. He received fame in Tamil Industry and was envied in the Bollywood.

His choreographies and direction in Bollywood movies were loved by the North and he stayed glued there giving fantastic performances as actor, choreographer and director. Some of successful ventures in Bollywood are Wanted and Rowdy Rathore.

He still remained active in Tamil movie industry and his performance in Karthik Subbaraj’s film Mercury for which he played the role of a blind and mute ghost.

Apart from winning multiple national awards for his outstanding contributions to arts, he has now been given the Padma Shri Award.
