Tribal Farmers learn about Yield Loss

An awareness campaign was conducted recently at Saralaipathy village, Anamali, Pollachi Range, Coimbatore district. The training was conducted under Tribal Sub-plan scheme funded by AICRP(N), ICAR, New Delhi. The event saw participation of 50 farmers.

The nematode awareness campaign was organized to educate the tribal farmers on yield loss caused by nematode, to teach them diagnostic symptoms and management strategies. The tribal dwellers were shown root knot nematode infested tomato plants and live nematodes by B.Anita, Professor, Dept. of Nematology. A.Shanthi, Professor explained advantages of application of organic inputs for better crop growth.

The gathering was welcomed by N. Swarnakumari, Assistant Professor who explained the activities of TSP and method of application of inputs supplied to the tribal farmers under the scheme. Farm tools, training kit and Pupureocillium lilacinum were distributed to all the tribal farmers who have attended the programme.
