Physical Attachment with the books are essential -D.Brindha, Principal, PSG CAS

To convey the importance of books and promote the reading habit among the youth of the college, the Department of Library of PSG College of Arts and Science Coimbatore organised the 3rd Annual Book Fair recently. The event is being held in Games Hall of the college.

D.Brindha, Principal,PSG College of Arts and Science inaugurated the two-day book fair.

B.Sivakumar, Librarian of the college welcomed the gathering. He said India is one of the top 6 countries that publishes books in maximum volume. He mentioned that in India there is a 25 to 30% growth in book publication every year and through this too the growth of India could be taken into account.

“We need to convert all the knowledge we gain into democratic force” he said.

D.Brindha, the Principal addressed the gathering. She said she is extremely happy to be here. She made it clear that despite the sudden rise of social media and the youth’s craze towards the digital world, the sales of books today is booming because books tell the truth.

Even though there are various advanced process to get information, for instance E-Books, Internet sources, Smart Classrooms etc, Physical Attachment with the books are essential as they bring closeness with humanity.

She quoted Nobel Prize Winner for Peace
Malala Yousafzai “One Child, One Teacher, One Book and One Pen can change the world” and made it a request to students to invest in books which suits their budget and develop their ability.

11 book sellers and distributors from Bangalore, Pollachi,Coimbatore and Chennai participated in this book fair.

The students of PSG College of Arts and Science enthusiastically participated in this book fair and and took interest in selecting the books of their choice.

Books related to all disciplines have been exhibited in this book fair.
