To be relevant in the world, we need to learn continuously – Revathi Kant

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a two-day event titled ‘Regional Summit on Higher Education’ in The Residency Towers, Coimbatore. The event was between 19.12.2018 and 20.12.2018. Teachers/lecturers were the major participants of the event.

During the inaugural session, Revathi Kant, Vice President & Chief Design Officer, Titan Company Limited addressed the gathering. She said the world is changing like we have not seen it change in the past and to be relevant in this transforming world, one has to learn continuously. She suggested the gathering to unlearn – to keep aside what we know as the right one and welcome the changes in the world with an open mind.

She said that as a person from the industry, what she likes to see in the field of education is application-oriented education. She proposed that interaction between the people from the academics and industry would lead to better upgrading of the curriculum. She also highlighted that students must be taught to have a problem-solving mindset and skills which the industry expects from them when they turn into employees.

The event featured more prominent persons from the industry, education and skill development addressing the gathering. During the last day of the event, there was a panel discussion on “Industry Institute Partnership” A three-member panel which included Rajendran Dandapani, Director, Zoho Corporation, Balanarayan Gopinath, GM, TCS and Vivekanand Challa, Practice Head, Mech.Engg Division, Altran Technologies India invited the gathering to interact and ask questions in connection with the event.

The teaching fraternity raised questions on how the void between industry and education could just be filled but fixed. More than 200 teachers/lecturers got benefitted.
